So we meet again...

Keeping in tradition with my (unintentionally) semi-annual journal updates...
So I have another semester of college under my belt. The holidays are over (I hope everyone had a good one), and I'm off to school again on Monday. But this holiday has been a really good one, artistically speaking, for me.
Not that I've actually DONE very much art to submit to dA – one picture that I started over the summer and has been long overdue since then. But somehow, through some ceramics projects that my sister and I made for Christmas presents this year, a bit of work on cosplay, some vague plannings with a couple of friends for the possibility of getting a table at Fanime's artist's alley this year (NO DEFINITE PLANS! They're just very distant possibilities!), and a couple visits to some art museums and galleries, I'm feeling a real desire.... no, even a need, to start doing more art again. And that's a very good thing.
I had been stressing out quite a bit over this break about summer plans in terms of internships or jobs – things I don't really want to do but rather feel like I should be considering – but now I'm thinking I might make it a summer of artistic ventures, in fanart, traditional media exploration, and maybe even some ceramics. And if I really do get on top of my art, start polishing my work, and particularly if I do end up selling prints at Fanime, then I might – for the very first time – try out some commission work. Just a thought (another distant possibility).
Oh! On the academic front, I've started learning Chinese and took a computer programming class! And I might be decided on possibly being a math major with an emphasis in computer science.... I think that would be really cool, actually... but I'm not completely sure yet.
How have you all been in the last half-a-year? Anything you are looking forward to in 2012? (how about the Hunger Games movie, anyone?)

One year down - Lazy (crazy) Summer

Okay, again, sorry it's been so long since I've updated. Sorry I haven't been posting pictures (except a few photos showing my love for HP). Just a quick recap of those things in my life that may be mildly interesting to you, my patient watchers.
I survived my first year of college.
I'm home for the summer.
I went to Fanime convention in May – cosplayed AVPM!Hermione and Spamalot!Prince Herbert (with my sister coslaying my beloved Lancelot).... AND got to meet
, in person, while we were all in HP cosplay, which was possibly the coolest thing ever.
I saw the final Harry Potter movie (and reread the seventh book, which I was so happy to revisit).
I am currently working on a bloody!Euphemia (Code Geass) cosplay, which I will be wearing to Kumoricon in Washington this September. My wig just arrived last week, and I have about a month left in which to sew a dress, which is something I've never done before (it should be interesting).
I am working with my two BFFs on Sasuke, Naruto and Sai cosplays. (We have ordered wigs and died white pants orange!). We are also discussing plans to, for the first time ever, have an artist alley table at the 2012 Winter Sacanime. Again, it should be interesting.
I have NOT been doing art (haha, in case you couldn't tell from my lack of updates). But I will get back in to it... hopefully (or I don't know how that artists alley thing is going to work out).

So, I haven't really updated my journal since July (except for the lunar eclipse announcement, which doesn't really count). I'm sure you guys have all be dying with curiosity to know what super exciting things have been happening in my life since then, right? RIght?

Okay, maybe not. But I'll let you know anyways, just because I'm that self centered. And I feel really bad not having updated in so long, like I'm neglecting my poor dA account or something. I would be honored if anyone was curious enough to read further. ;D
First I'd like to wish every one a belated Happy Holidays and New Year (and I suppose Thanksgiving and Halloween, if I wanted to be fair). I hope you all did something fun, enjoyed the break from school, etc (I'm sure enjoying mine!). Any New Years resolutions? Mine was to write a haiku everyday, something I did very well with keeping up with for a grand total of three days.
Moving right along to what's happening in my life: The big news I suppose is that I started college.
I've now survived my first full semester at Reed College (a small intellectual-hippie liberal-arts school in Oregon). It's been a bit of a hectic mix of fun and exciting experiences, meeting new friends, etc. balanced with awkwardness, frustration and misery (especially in the first couple weeks), but in the long run I'd say I am adjusting well and enjoying myself. The information that might sound most exciting to you is that I am in J-dorm – the Japanese culture dorm – and have thus been able to meet a lot of awesome people who have similar interests as me, as well as been introduced to some new manga and animes as well as some non-anime aspects of the culture, like watching a Japanese movie every week and learning to make Sushi!
I am indeed becoming wiser in the way of anime: I've now watched CLAMP's series X and the first season of xxxHolic, and become a fan of the manga series Monster – and excellent suspenseful story about a morally-conflicted doctor (WHO IS AWESOME) in pursuit of a genius psychotic killer (seriously, this guy would put Light Yagami to shame). This winter break (which I get five weeks off from school for - ah, I love college
), my sister also introduced me to the anime, Princess Tutu, which I absolutely LOVE, and A Very Potter Musical (which is the source of this journal's unusual title) – Watch it on Youtube --> www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmwM_A… won't regret it 8D
Oh, did anyone see the seventh Harry Potter movie? Tangled? The Social Network? Watch the Golden Globes (I didn't, but I was ECSTATIC to see that Glee had one for best comedy series)?
On the subject of Art (with a capital A)... I've been a major slacker in that area
. But I honestly want to do more; I'm going to try to even get some pics done, or at least significantly started, during this final week I have before I head back to school. And the 2011 Winter Sacanime convention just passes, so I will be posting cosplay pics from that soon!

I have finally found my happy place! (anyone recognize the reference? My friend's brother has gotten me started on Shaman King)
No, but seriously, I have possibly found the two things that make me happier than anything else in the world:
1.) Anime Conventions - I realized this at Fanime this year, that there is really no place to be that is cooler than a con.
AND
2.) Live musical theater!!! - I realized this last night while watching Spamalot!, the live musical adaptation of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". It was hilarious, genius, more fun than anything I've done since..... well, since Fanime
. And, as an added bonus, I discovered my newest favorite yaoi pairing: LancelotxPrinceHerbert 
.
Anyone reading this: What's your favorite musical? What is your "happy place"?
P.S. I got my Naruto wig in the mail today! It has a lot of hair on top and is kind of thin in back, but I'm hoping with some trimming and spiking it will work out. And the color is so pretty <3
P.P.S. HETALIA AXIS POWERS IS GETTING ENGLISH DUBBED!!! You can find previews on youtube! America's voice bugs me to no end but the other countries sound so cool with their different accents!
